ISO and Industry Transitions

ISO: All ISO standards are reviewed on a five-year cycle. IRAB-QSA management system programs are based on the relevant international ISO standard. As such, professionals are required to demonstrate their knowledge of updated standards relevant to their certification.

Industry: Often, industries update their specific requirements. Industry professionals are required to demonstrate knowledge of updated criteria relevant to their certification.

To make the transition of your auditor certification to the new standard easy, we’ve compiled the below information.

ISO 22000:2018 Transition (applies to current Food Safety Management System Auditors)

You can complete the ISO 22000:2018 transition by:

  • Completing the ISO 22000:2018 Transition Assessment
  • Completing ISO 22000:2018 Transition Assessment or Training with a certification body or registrar
  • Attending an ISO 22000:2018 course or examination from an IRAB-QSA-certified training provider or other reputable training organization

Transition assessment fees apply.

IMPORTANT: All IRAB-QSA-certified FSMS auditors are required to transition to the ISO 22000:2018 Auditor program by December, 2021. If you have any questions regarding the transition, please contact us at irab-qsa.com

ISO 45001:2018 OHS Auditor Transition (applies to current OHS Auditors)

IRAB-QSA currently has two occupational health and safety schemes:

  • Occupational Health and Safety Auditor (based on OHSAS 18001 and AS/NZS 4801)
  • ISO 45001 Occupational Health and Safety Auditor (based on ISO 45001:2018)

As both OHSAS 18001 and AS/NZS 4801 standards have been withdrawn due to the 2018 publication of ISO 45001, IRAB-QSA will be discontinuing our Occupational Health and Safety Auditor scheme (OHSAS 18001 and AS/NZS 4801). New applicants for the scheme are no longer accepted.

Please Note: The ISO 45001 Occupational Health and Safety Auditor scheme is inclusive of the OHSAS scheme. There is no need to have both.

Those who are currently certified to the Occupational Health and Safety Auditor (OHSAS 18001 and AS/NZS 4801) scheme will have the option to transition to the ISO 45001 Occupational Health and Safety scheme no later than March 12, 2021.

You may complete the transition in one of three ways:

  • Complete the IRAB-QSA ISO 45001:2018 transition assessment. This can be accessed from your customer portal on the IRAB-QSA website at irab-qsa.com There is a USD $49 fee for the assessment.
  • Complete ISO 45001:2018 auditor training from an IRAB-QSA-certified training provider.
  • Complete ISO 45001:2018 training from an accredited certification body (or registrar) or registered training provider.

If you have already met one of these requirements, please notify us at info@irab-qsa.com and provide us with a copy of your certificate of completion. We will then update your records accordingly by transitioning you into the ISO 45001 Occupational Health and Safety scheme and closing your Occupational Health and Safety Certification.

If you currently hold both the Occupational Health and Safety and the ISO 45001 Occupational Health and Safety certifications, please note that we will drop your Occupational Health and Safety certification on March 12, 2021, unless you instruct us to drop it earlier.

We suggest that you read and understand the ISO 45001:2018 standard prior to attempting to complete the transition assessment. You may purchase the standard from ISO here: https://www.iso.org/standard/63787.html.
